Madison railroad map

Map of Madison, Wisconsin, with railroads as they appeared during most of the twentieth century.

In 2023, the Center for Railroad Photography & Art partnered with the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation to develop a walking tour about the history and architecture of the West Rail Corridor in Madison, Wisconsin. The tour focuses on the development along the former Milwaukee Road and Illinois Central lines between Monona Bay and West Washington Avenue.

The map above is a supplement for that tour as well as the Machinery Row tour on Madison’s East Side. To see a selection of more than 200 historic photographs of Madison’s railroads, click the gray button.
